Anston House Demolition and Redevelopment

Anston House during demolition
Abandoned Anston House

Anston House opposite Preston park had been derelict/abandoned since the 1980s. Over the almost 30 years of abandon, there have been many community efforts to develop or better the site as it was often described as Brighton's ugliest building. This has included petitions to sell and develop it, students painting portraits on its window to help beautify it, protesters campaigning against tree felling in the plot etc.

This means that is lots of public knowledge and interest for what happens to it. In March 2021, it was finally demolished. It is unclear what had happened to the rubble and if it will be recycled somehow. Conran and Partners has designed a scheme of 3 residential tower blocks with only 30 units of affordable housing. While the development is in its early days, is there potential to petition the construction to benefit the community in other ways?
