Community energy plan and LEAF project.

Barcombe local energy assessment
video

This project led by Ollie Pendred (Communities Matter) for Barcombe Energy Group and Nick Gant (Community21) was developed in association with OVESCO and University of Brighton and funded by the Department of Energy and climate Change, Local Energy Assessment Fund (LEAF).

The project used a number of innovative techniques to enable a comprehensive, but localised assessment of an entire village. By modelling assessments around common housing types, local people were provided with key information about the value of initiatives to their particular situation a kind of 'mass-customised' service.

The result was a phenomenal take up and increase in retrofits across the community - facilitated by meaningful visual data to promote quick, easy and locally authentic assessment by members of the community.
