Excess Food Opportunities Map

Excess Food Opportunities Map

EPA excess food waste map is an interactive online map of the US providing information on more than 500,000 potential industrial, commercial and institutional excess food generators and more than 4,000 potential recipients. The map supports the nationwide diversion of food waste from landfill.

The map can be used to:

-Inform food waste management decisions at the local level.

-Identify potential sources of food for rescue and reuse.

-Identify potential feedstocks for compost, anaerobic digestion, or other excess food recyclers.

-Identify potential infrastructure gaps for managing excess food.

-Identify alternatives to sending excess food to landfills.
