Providence Gardens Regeneration Project

The London Road Local Action Team have been working to transform the area into a lively and friendly place for the local community to socialize. This was done by removing the fencing (as shown above) and creating wooden terraced seating areas for families - all of these changes were collectively known as 'The Common Room'. Although these changes weren't permanent, and were just temporary to see how the public responded to them and whether they would like anything else in the park, in September 2014 they were made permanent.

By having this green space it emphasises citizenship for the environment because it encourages people to go outside more and learn more about the environment by being outside in a communal area. It also gives people the opportunity to learn more and actually join community groups that support this action. Along with that by having a green space it is more environmentally friendly as it does not contribute to pollution, it also creates more habitats for wildlife and plants etc, and it is an environmentally sustainable place.
